Terms of Service
TrellisPulse, Inc.
Last updated: February 13, 2026
Section 01Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Trellis (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and TrellisPulse, Inc. ("Trellis," "we," "us," or "our").
We may update these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.
Section 02Description of Service
Trellis is a communication platform providing the following core capabilities:
- Mesh networking — device-to-device communication that works without internet infrastructure
- VPN services — encrypted internet tunneling with a strict no-logs policy
- Emergency features — emergency alerts, location sharing, and SOS activation
- Bridge communication — SMS and voice bridging through traditional networks
Important: Service availability depends on your device capabilities, network conditions, and geographic location. Mesh networking requires other Trellis-enabled devices within range. VPN access may be restricted in certain jurisdictions.
Section 03Account Registration
- You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. Users under 13 may only access Trellis through institution-managed deployments (e.g., school safety programs) where the institution assumes responsibility.
- You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your account, including your password and any authentication credentials.
- One account per person. Creating multiple accounts for the purpose of abuse, evasion of restrictions, or manipulation of the platform is prohibited.
- You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to update it as necessary.
Section 04Acceptable Use
Trellis is built to protect people. Your use of the Service must align with this mission.
- Personal safety and privacy protection
- Emergency communication and coordination
- Institutional safety deployments (schools, organizations)
- Secure private communication
- Accessing information in censored regions
- Any illegal activity under applicable law
- Harassment, threats, or abuse of other users
- Distributing malware, viruses, or harmful code
- Attempting to compromise, hack, or exploit other users or the platform
- Reselling or redistributing access to Trellis services
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these acceptable use provisions.
Section 05Restricted Country Use
Trellis is specifically designed to operate in countries with internet censorship, government surveillance, and communication restrictions. We acknowledge the following:
- Users in restricted countries accept additional risk inherent to operating privacy tools in such environments
- Trellis provides tools for safety and communication, not for facilitating illegal purposes
- We cannot guarantee uninterrupted access in all conditions, as governments may employ blocking techniques that temporarily disrupt service
- Users are responsible for understanding the laws in their jurisdiction regarding the use of encryption and VPN services
Trellis is committed to protecting the safety and privacy of users in restricted countries. We employ advanced anti-censorship technologies, but no system can guarantee 100% availability against determined state-level adversaries.

Section 07Intellectual Property
- The Trellis software, including its design, code, algorithms, and protocols, is proprietary and owned by TrellisPulse, Inc.
- TrellisPulse, Inc. has 84 patent applications pending covering core mesh networking, emergency communication, and anti-censorship technologies
- User-generated content (messages, files, media) remains the sole property of the user who created it
- Your license to use the Trellis application is non-transferable, non-exclusive, and revocable
- You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or create derivative works based on the Trellis software
Section 08Privacy
Your privacy is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Key privacy commitments include:
- All messages are end-to-end encrypted — Trellis cannot access, read, or decrypt your message content
- Our VPN operates under a strict no-logs policy
- We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the Service
- Emergency location data is automatically deleted after 24 hours
For full details on data collection, storage, and your rights, please review our Privacy Policy.
Section 09Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
- We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted availability of the Service
- Emergency features are designed to supplement, not replace, official emergency services (911, 112, or your local emergency number). Always contact official emergency services when possible.
- Mesh networking functionality depends on the proximity and availability of other Trellis-enabled devices
- VPN and anti-censorship features may experience disruptions due to evolving government blocking techniques
Critical: Trellis emergency features are a supplement to, not a replacement for, official emergency services. If you are in immediate danger and can reach official emergency services (911/112), do so first.
Section 10Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
- TrellisPulse, Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service
- We are not liable for network outages, government interference, device failures, or any disruption beyond our reasonable control
- Our maximum aggregate liability is limited to the total fees you have paid to Trellis in the 12 months preceding the claim
- We are not liable for the actions of other users on the mesh network, including content they transmit or actions they take
Section 11Termination
- User-initiated: You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently purged per our Privacy Policy
- Trellis-initiated: We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in prohibited activities, or pose a risk to other users or the platform
- Effect of termination: Upon account termination, your license to use the Service ends immediately. Data deletion will be handled according to our Privacy Policy (all data purged within 30 days)
- Sections regarding Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, and Governing Law survive termination
Section 12Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Boulder, Colorado, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You agree to waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action.
Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights.
Section 13Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice through the app and/or via email before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must discontinue use of the Service and delete your account.
